HIGH HOLIDAY CHALLAH WORKSHOP WITH MELISSA

  • TBD upon registration (map)

HIGH HOLIDAY CHALLAH WORKSHOP WITH MELISSA

Melissa will share her recipe as we go step by step through the ~4 hour long process of creating the dough, kneading it, letting it rise, punching it down, and forming a loaf. It will then require a second 1/2 hour rise which will begin as you drive home to bake it in your own oven.

We will plan to make round loaves that you can freeze at home and use for the upcoming holidays. A braided loaf is also an option.

Please let us know if you have a stand mixer with a large mixing bowl, beaters/paddle ***and dough hook*** that you can bring. RSVP HERE

All participants should bring:

  • A large wooden board

  • A rubber spatula

  • 1, 2, and 4 cup glass measuring cups (if you have them)

  • A set of plastic measuring cups

  • A measuring tablespoon

  • 2 cookie sheets that stack, or just one if that’s all you have.

  • If you would like a raisin or chocolate chip challah, please bring those with you.

Melissa will provide flour, eggs, oil, yeast, sugar, and salt. Since we will be hanging out while the dough rises, you are invited to bring snacks to share.

A member has opened her kitchen to host this event. Attendees will receive directions with RSVP.

PLEASE RSVP BY WEDNESDAY AUGUST 19 HERE

There are no fees for participating, but a donation to BHC's General Fund, here, is appreciated.
