 Beth Liberman, Executive Director

I am honored to serve as the Executive Director of Jewish Communities of Vermont. Since moving back to the state in 2016, I’ve been partnering with JCVT to strengthen Jewish life for nearly a decade while serving as Director of Education at both Beth Jacob Synagogue and the Jewish Community of Greater Stowe (JCOGS). My work has focused on building community through partnerships and multi-community holiday celebrations, which I believe are at the heart of vibrant Jewish life.

I earned my B.A. in Psychology and Studio Art from the University of Vermont and my M.S.Ed. in Museum Education from Bank Street College. Our family spent significant years living in Israel, where I became fluent in Hebrew, engaged in cross-border peace initiatives, and developed a deep appreciation for Israeli arts and culture—experiences that continue to shape my vision of Jewish learning and connection.

I delight in living Jewishly in Vermont, where our traditions and practices are enriched by the spirituality of nature, the rhythms of the year, and a strong sense of community. I can’t wait to get on the road to meet Jews across the Green Mountain State—the “Jews in the Woods”—and to find creative, inspiring ways to celebrate, connect, and sustain Jewish life together.

When I’m not at work I’ll be in my garden in Hyde Park, snowshoeing in our woods, blowing the shofar at the edge of the brook, or exploring an art exhibition in one of the well-known or off-beat venues in Vermont.
