Dr. Yasmeen Abu Fraiha: Identity, Critical Care, and the Pursuit of Peace

  • online - RSVP required (map)

Join facilitator Jen Daniels on Sunday, August 30, at 1:00 pm Eastern (10:00 am Pacific, 20:00 Jerusalem al-Quds) for a special event with Dr. Yasmeen Abu Fraiha who will share her experience as a Palestinian citizen of Israel, navigating the complicated relationship between the multiple layers of her identity. She will also describe her medical work as a critical care physician working at the largest hospital in Israel’s Negev region in October, 2023. In addition to her work healing individuals, Dr. Abu Fraiha will discuss her work to heal the broader society as a peace activist in many different organizations.

Our speaker reminds us of the complexities of the world and of our identities during a crucial period of reflection. On the Jewish calendar, we’re in the weeks leading up to Rosh Hashana, the New Year. This final month of Elul is a time of personal spiritual accounting. We are asked to look back on the year that was, and look forward to the year ahead. For everyone in our broader community, it is a time of transition. As the school year begins and seasons shift across hemispheres, summer is coming to an end for some and just beginning for others. We are reminded of the cycle of the seasons. We hope that you are able to take some time out of this busy period to be in community with us.

More information about the speaker:
